A lot of people think this was an overnight thing and after Nothin’ On You it just skyrocketed─which is true to a certain degree, but before that it was some dark times. It was me just in the recording studio and figuring out the production process and the writing of the songs process. It needed to happen. It was training for me to put out my first album.”
